About
My name is Jeffrey Qiu, and I am a freshman at Hamilton College studying computer science. Ever since I was in elementary school, I have been especially interested in technology and how it aids us in our everyday lives. I started coding in middle school when I first picked up C++, and I have not looked back since.
Currently, I have experience in C++, Python, Arduino C, HTML, JS, Flutter, and CSS.
My eXPERIENCE
- Created a robot soccer kit that would be cheap, easy to build, and easy to code.
- Developed resources, such as videos and instructions for building and using the kit.
- Fostered a partnership with a nonprofit organization called MARE, which helps underprivileged Colombians get involved with robotics, to mentor a team in Colombia to enter an international robot soccer competition in 2024.
- Currently working with the robotics teacher at the Lab School in DC, a school for children with disabilities, to incorporate our kit into their curriculum.
- Launched free online coding camps for kids during the summer of 2020 and the spring of 2021.
- Created multiple curriculums so students could choose a path right for them.
- Promoted our camp to local families to acquire students.
- Collaborated with local YMCAs over multiple summers to bring our instruction in person
- Raised money for the Montgomery EMS, the COVID-19 crisis in India, and Afghan refugees resettling in our local area.
Storming Robots – Robot Soccer Team
Sept 2019 – 2021
- Competed in the Lightweight and Open Soccer Division of Robocup Junior.
- Won the Best Poster award for the 2020 Virtual Competition.
- Made it to the International Event for the Open Soccer Division in 2021, representing the USA by winning the National Competition.
- Now developing a Robot Soccer Platform for anyone to get involved in the competition easily.
